Kick-off Meeting
RÅC Project Soft-XPCS
The purpose of the Röntgen-Ångström Cluster (RÅC) consortium Soft-XPCS is to enable and perform fast soft X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (soft XPCS) experiments. In particular, we want to provide instrumentation and methodological developments at MAX IV and PETRA III to perform XPCS at soft X-ray resonances on time scales ranging from seconds down to a few nanoseconds and on length scales from several 100 nm down to a few nm. With this development, we aim to explore thermal dynamics, field and current-induced motion and fluctuations after laser excitation in complex magnetic materials, including skyrmion systems, magnetic metamaterials, lanthanides, and nickelates.
The project Soft-XPCS officially started in April 2024 and has received funding for four years. With this workshop, we want to kick off the work in this project and tighten the bonds between the project partners. Topics of the workshop will include:
- Research proposals for beamtimes
- Instrumentation (Beamlines, endstations, detectors)
- Reports from past beamtimes
To compile the workshop program, it would be highly appreciated if you could propose a topic you would like to present. Please use the abstract submission form. Giving a title and a brief (informal) abstract is sufficient. The proposed time slot for each presentation is 20 min followed by an extensive period for questions and discussion.
The meeting will take place at the Max Born Institute (MBI) on July 18, 2024 from 9.00 am until the afternoon. Participants should arrive in Berlin on July 17. There are two hotels in Berlin Adlershof located in a walking distance from the MBI:
Please book your rooms as soon as possible. If you need assistance, don't hesitate to get in touch with the organizers at MBI.
Public transport via S-Bahn to Adlershof is available from Berlin Central Station (S9) and Berlin Südkreuz (S45 or S46). The required ticket category is "Berlin AB". From BER airport, both S9 and S45 go directly to Adlershof and require a "Berlin BC" ticket.
Please register for the event if you want to attend the kick-off meeting. There are no registration fees.
