Description

Colloquium on light–matter interaction investigated with soft-X-ray spectroscopy and coherent scattering, organized on the occasion of Prof. Stefan Eisebitt’s scientific contributions

This symposium brings together researchers working at the forefront of soft X-ray spectroscopy and coherent scattering to discuss recent advances and future directions in the field. Topics will span X-ray holography and lensless imaging, ultrafast magnetization dynamics, nonlinear X-ray physics, and laboratory-scale soft X-ray sources — a landscape of methods and discoveries closely intertwined with the scientific work of Stefan Eisebitt. The program reflects the breadth of a research field that has grown enormously over the past three decades, shaped by contributions from many of the scientists gathered here.

The symposium takes place on Friday, 3 July 2026, at the Max Born Institute in Berlin-Adlershof. Information on travel and hotels can be found on the dedicated pages in the menu.

Important note: S-Bahn service to Adlershof will be interrupted from June 12 to July 6, 2026. The S-Bahn provides replacement bus services. Check current conditions shortly before departure via the BVG or S-Bahn apps or the journey planner at BVG or S-Bahn Berlin

All MBI colleagues are warmly invited to join the talks throughout the day. External guests are also welcome to arrive a day early: on Thursday, 2 July, starting at 3:00 pm, we offer lab tours, snacks, and plenty of time for good conversations.
